About the Quiet Flyers
The Quiet Flyers is a chartered club registered with the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Charter #:3710
This club was formed specifically for electric power and glider aircraft. We welcome members who like to fly economically with light aircraft. A full AMA membership, Park Pilot membership or youth membership is required to join (this is your flight insurance). If you love model airplanes, this is the place to be! Membership is $10.00 annually, per calendar year. Use the Contact Us tab or the Membership and Questions button below to inquire how to join.
Where we fly
Our primary site is a paved 250 ft runway at Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It is handicap accessible.
We often fly at other sites, Such as Wanatee Park (near Marion)
When the wind and weather is right, we fly gliders and slope-soar at Mt. Trashmore

Why Join?
This is all about comradery, sharing knowledge and love of flying.
The rules:
- The Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Quiet Flyers is an AMA chartered multi interest club.
- Flyers must understand and obey the safety rules published by the AMA. Website: www.modelaircraft.org .
- All flyers must have valid AMA membership (Open, Park Flyer or Youth).
- As indicated by the name of the club - gas and glow engines are not permitted.
- Aircraft flown should not be overly loud.
- We fly only electric aircraft, sailplanes (gliders) and some rubber powered free flight planes.
- Our club flies at many sites. Our primary site is at Seminole Valley Park. We also fly at Wanatee Park. We are always looking for new sites where casual safe flying is permitted.
- We enjoy meeting new pilots and are always willing to help with training on anything electric.
- Yearly dues are $10. Dues cover such things as runway repair, pizza parties, Door Prizes, our AMA site insurance and various administrative fees.

Indoor Flying (OWLS Winter Schedule)
About the Owls
This is a very informal group of individuals who fly indoor free flight and small R/C electric aircraft.
This group is not affiliated with the Cedar Rapids Quiet Flyers or any other formal model airplane club.
Weight of aircraft limited to 2.0 Ounces.
Small electric R/C and Rubber power models are flown here.
The OWLS meet alternating at the Mount Vernon High School and the Creekside Church
Mount Vernon sessions are from 9:30AM to 11:30AM.
The landing fee is $5.00 per session at MV.
Creekside session times are from 1:00PM to 4:00PM.
The landing fee for that venue is $3.00 per session.
